  1. I really enjoyed your book,it was well written and an easy read. I'm looking forward to the next book. The one thing I really e
Liked was you did not need to go on forever about the gun and there types and what they could do you just let your characters shoot to kill and went on with the story. So many prepper story's are an advertisement for a gun show.

    1. Heh heh. Yeah, I think some books should come with an endorsement. I'm glad you liked Solar Storm, and, rest assured, the sequel Solar Winter will, if all goes well, be available this winter. Many thanks.

  2. I enjoyed the book, but please get an American proofreader to correct some of the words that sound odd to Americans. Two glaring examples are Lift instead of elevator & petrol instead of gasoline.

    1. Thanks for that. I thought I'd been diligent but I missed those. Yeah, for the next book, I'll be looking for American advance readers to pick up the Britishisms. Would you be interested in receiving an Advanced Reading Copy of the next book before release?

    2. Yes, I would be very interested in reading an advance copy and providing feedback.

  4. Thank you, Molly. I certainly will. :)

  5. I really enjoyed this book. Very good writing style, and character development. I wish the movie industry would produce more on EMP survival. This book would make a great movie!

  6. Thank you, Vivian. :) Don't think we'll see any EMP survival movies, but a HBO series would be nice. Won't be holding my breath, though. It's mostly eco-disaster movies at the moment, like GEOSTORM which is due out this October (saw the trailer, though, and it looks a bit meh). Apparently, Matthew Maher's book, CYBERSTORM has been optioned by Warner Brothers, which is about a cyber-attack that takes down the grid, so that may be the closest we'll get. But it features mostly yuppies stranded in New York. So again, meh.

  7. Honestly, I think this is one of the best books I've read of this genre. I learned so much about Syria, airplanes, the risks of bugging in too long, the frustrations of Lauren trying to get home. Is there any possibility you could write an equally well researched and plausible story of a nuclear attack from Northern Korea?

  8. Hi Kaitryn, thanks for the kind words. It's certainly a possibility, but I'm not sure yet. I've got two sequels to Solar Storm in the pipeline, and that will take me into 2018. After that, I don't know. I've got more ideas than I've got time to write - wish I could write faster.

  10. I love this genre of books, and read through them even when they are filled with a lot of errors, but by and large, this was well written, engaging and character developing without focusing on graphic violence. Funny, though, how no one ever seems to have pets, lol. Will be very ready for book 2!

  11. Thanks Dorianne. I do come across a fair number of dogs in this genre. The lone wanderer and his dog has become a bit of a cliché. Regrettably, however, most pets would likely end up as food, so maybe writers prefer not to mention them.

    1. Yeah I know, or they die trapped. Everything I do is focused on my pets and encouraging my grown sons to keep an ear to the ground. I have rescue dogs, 6 to be exact, and 2 rescue cats. I've worked with many animals, including a rescued stallion and pet chickens. So I would always have to not try and take on the abandoned ones. And yep, I cried over "I am Legend". I even have packs and a pull behind bike wagon I have rigged " just in case".

  12. Fantastic book Rob. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Being from Oz I did not notice your non Americanism. This book was written with lots of thought about the challenges of a post world wide EMP apocalypse. I also appreciated that it was full length unlike many others. Can't wait for the next one.

  13. Thanks, mate. Glad you enjoyed it. It makes it all worth it. Hard at work on the next one, so I hope it can be as good.

  16. I really enjoyed this series so far, I have read the first book twice in fact, I also appreciated very much the fact you didn’t go over board with the gun descriptions, as a Canadian the explanations in the other books is just a lot of claptrap said in a foreign language. I enjoyed the character development as well, Rick and Scott show vulnerabilities and do not portrait never put a step wrong, do or die, Hooray attitude that other books use to portrait US soldiers with.
All of the above combined with a believable story line and most of all a good use of proofing, using grammar correct spelling and avoidance of colloquialisms (except for those already mentioned in a previous review) provided a very enjoyable read.
I look forward to your next installment in this series.

  17. Thank you, Nancy. I'm glad you enjoyed the first two books. I'll be working hard on the third one for the next few months. I hope it'll wrap up the series in a satisfying manner.

  18. The second book is an excellent read I like how the story is going.

  19. Glad you enjoyed it, Hank. And thanks again for the assistance with the language.

  20. Of all the Emp survival series I've read, this is the first one that told of deployed soldiers and told their story. Starting #2 now...Hope there's more. Really enjoying this story.

  21. Hi Kreyzcee. Glad you're enjoying the series. I can't claim to be too original, as I got the idea from some zombie story I read about serving soldiers being in Afghanistan when the plague hit. But since most EMP stories feature a journey home, I couldn't help but think about the plight of soldiers trapped abroad, and how they would make it back.

  22. Love Solar Storm, will be buying the rest in the series. I saw someone comment that it needs to be proof read because some words sound off to Americans like Lift for Elevator......sigh. Its fine just the way it is. You're a British writer I believe, so why change the grammar? Your descriptions of across the country was so picturesque I didn't know it wasn't written by someone who wasn't American born. So hats off to you and don't change you're grammatical prose its perfect just the way it is. Keep up the great work.

  23. Thank you so much for that comment. It means a lot. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series.

  26. Ellie Short just finished book 3 and can't wait until solar revolution comes out. This was a series i couldn't put down. Finished all 3 books in 2 days. In some comments it was said you dragged out about the different types of guns. I thought this was a good thing because it built and gave us more insight on your character Packy. Thank you for the enjoyment of keeping the story moving but letting us get to know each character and background.

  27. Thank you, Ellie. Glad you're enjoying the series. And wow, that's fast reading. Hope you enjoy the next one.

  28. Nice job, sir! Yes, I noticed your britishisms (is that a word?) But it did nothing to diminish the read. Loved it! Signed up for your newsletter. Cant wait for more!

  29. Thanks, Mamasue. Looking forward to delivering the next one. And by the power of public opinion, we can make Britishisms a word - though it's as clunky as hell. Hurts even to type it. So maybe we shouldn't. Whatever. Hope you enjoy the next book. Will make an announcement as soon as I have news.

  30. Can't wait until the 4th book comes out. I've read many SHTF type books and yours were fairly mistake free. Too many know nothing about guns and make amateur mistakes. You've made the characters interesting without making them super human. Hoping for the next book soon.

  31. Glad you're enjoying the series, and thank you for your feedback. Working hard on the 4th book, and while I don't have a definite release date yet, I hope it lives up to your expectations.
